Attached garage and gasoline?

I have an attached garage and today my husband got a jug of gas for the mower and it is sitting in the garage. My dining room which is where the garage door is smells of gasoline, it is coming from the garage. IS this dangerous to my health? I feel like i can almost taste the gas in my mouth. I just brought the gas outside so it should clear out soon right? thanks?
