Can you recommend a good clinical psychology introductory textbook?
I am a psychology student taking a break from my studies, and would like to do some reading on my subject of interest during this time. I am looking for a very good clinical psychology textbook, essentially a straight - forward, extensive book which covers the basic issues as they would be tought in the first semesters of a b.sc. in psychology. I have looked at some books which focused extensively on the ethics side of the matter, diagnosis and clification issues, interviews and testing. One book even included a chapter discussing options for choosing a post - graduate training programme. I realise these are important matters which are bound to be included. But I would like to get my hands on something which focuses more on the different psychotherapy approaches, mental disorders and defence mechanisms (I'm not even sure if the latter would be included, or should I be looking for an introduction to psychoysis for this?). I appreciate any advice :D
