Profanity.?

My cousin's grade-school daughter does well academically but has been caught using some awful swearwords with her friends lately. She has also been getting more involved with internet blogs and others sites that I don't feel are good for her. The dad isn't in the picture, the mother isn't concerned, how do I reach her without sounding too "preachy"?
